3 . Termination: the critical interface

A successful termination is a beautiful metallurgical event, not just a simple mechanical attachment. A thoughtfully executed crimp creates a highly reliable gas-tight, cold-welded joint right between the delicate wire strands and the terminal body. This peacefully prevents internal oxidation and minimizes contact resistance for the entire natural life of the product.

In this chapter, we gracefully explore the interesting physics and critical parameters of modern crimping, hand soldering, and ultrasonic terminations. This practical discussion includes destructive cross-sectional analysis, helpful pull-force testing, and the routine calibration and maintenance schedules highly required for our processing equipment and precision tooling.
