7.8 Chemical Management (HazMat)

Electronics manufacturing utilizes solvents (IPA, Acetone), fluxes, adhesives, and coatings that are often flammable or toxic.

7.78.1 ChemicalStorage Management& (HazMat)Segregation

  • The "Yellow Cabinet":Flammables: StorageMust rulesbe forstored flammablesin grounded, yellow safety cabinets (IPA,NFPA Flux,30 Conformal Coating)compliant).
  • SDSSegregation: Oxidizers (e.g., certain etching chemicals) must never be stored with flammables.
  • Dispensing: IPA bottles at workbenches must be self-closing (plunger cans) to minimize evaporation and fire risk. Open cups are prohibited.

7.8.2 Safety Data Sheets):Sheets (SDS)

  • Access: TheA digital or physical SDS library ofmust safetybe sheetsavailable forto everyall chemical on site (mandatory for fire inspections).employees.
