7.8 Chemical Management (HazMat)
Electronics manufacturing utilizes solvents (IPA, Acetone), fluxes, adhesives, and coatings that are often flammable or toxic.
7.8.1 Storage & Segregation
- Flammables: Must be stored in grounded, yellow safety cabinets (NFPA 30 compliant).
- Segregation: Oxidizers (e.g., certain etching chemicals) must never be stored with flammables.
- Dispensing: IPA bottles at workbenches must be self-closing (plunger cans) to minimize evaporation and fire risk. Open cups are prohibited.
7.8.2 Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Access: A digital or physical SDS library must be available to all employees.
- Labeling: Secondary containers (e.g., a small squeeze bottle of flux) must carry a label identifying the contents and primary hazard (GHS pictogram).
